This chapter attempts to underscore the importance of synthesizing traditional perspectives on FDI, while acknowledging the growing influence of China on the world investment stage. It will demonstrate that the confluence of these different perspectives is certain to affect both the academic and practitioner circles. From an academic perspective, insight into China’s FDI agenda is likely to act as a harbinger for developments in global FDI patterns. From a practitioner’s perspective, a better understanding of China’s FDI regulatory framework is certain to improve investment decision-making.
