At the invitation of Prof. Desheng HU, Deputy Director of Silk Road Institute for International and Comparative Law, Frans von der Dunk, Professor of Space Law of UNL School of Law and Member of IISL Council, recently came to visit XJTU School of Law and gave a series of lectures to law school teachers and students.
The first lecture “Introduction to International Space Law” and the second lecture “National Space Legislation” were given on the morning and the afternoon of September 29. Prof. von der Dunk combed the origin, object and source of Space Law, summarized major issues and challenges faced by contemporary Space Law and analyzed main provisions in space treaties in his first lecture; then he systematically introduced the space legislations of several main countries and analyzed the regulation pattern and scope of national space legislation with emphasis, especially the issues on the supervision of private space activities in the second lecture. The last lecture “US Export Controls as Part of the Broader International Framework for Traffic in Dual-sensitive Goods” was held on the afternoon of September 30 and focused on US export restriction policy on the relevant space technology, particularly dual-use technology.
