Shaanxi Province Society of Legislative Science Founding Conference and Workshop on “Mission of Post-systematic Legislative Science” was held at XJTU on October 11, 2013. This event was attended by many distinguished guests, such as Qingli WEI, Research Director of Shaanxi Province Law Society, Dianbin LIU, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Internal and Judicial Affairs under the Standing Committee of Xi’an People’s Congress, Renjing LIU, Deputy Office Director of Humanities and Social Sciences of XJTU Academy of Science, Wenhua SHAN, Dean of XJTU School of Law, Professor Dongpo SHI, Member of the Council of China Society of Legislative Science and Huili JIAO from Office of Legislative Affairs of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government, and the nominees for the president, vice-president, secretary general, council executive member and member of Shaanxi Province Society of Legislative Science, as well as teachers and students of XJTU School of Law.

At the Founding Conference, Professor Baomin WANG, Associate Dean of XJTU School of Law, was appointed as President; Lanxiang JI, Lecturer of XJTU School of Law, was appointed as Secretary General; Wenping TIAN, Division Director of the Commission of Legal Affairs of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee, and several other outstanding experts and professionals as Vice-Presidents.

 

Following the Founding Conference, the experts and scholars present from both academic and professional community delivered wonderful keynote speeches on “Mission of Post-systematic Legislative Science” at the Workshop. Professor Dongpo SHI reviewed the development of Legislative Science and put forward new research areas and problems; Dianbin LIU elaborated the importance of local legislation, analyzed existing prominent problems and proposed relevant thinkings for perfecting local legislation; Zhongyi LIU, Vice-President of Shaanxi Province Society of Legislative Science and President of People’s Court in Jingyang County of Shaanxi Province, raised several legislative problems in judicial practice and particularly analyzed judicial interpretation in terms of its nature, validity and applicability in detail; Lawyer Kejian TAO, Executive Member of the Council of Shaanxi Province Society of Legislative Science, posed some problems of related current laws and regulations from the perspective of lawyers’ practice.
